Default Remove label from ssd void warranty?

    Hi,

Got a Samsung 970 Pro I want to install into an Anglebird pci-e heatsink card. Installation requires removal of the label followed by thermal pads layed on top of the nvme drive. Would removing the label void the drives warranty?

    Thanks

Yep. Because your serial number is on that sticker.

    Default Voided

Guess I voided it then. They made it tough to peel the sticker off though. There were perforations in it such that the sticker would perforate if removed. Thought about the pros and cons though. Took the risk to get best possible temps. Just didn't make any sense to leave it on considering when you place a heatsink on a processor you don't leave the plastic film on the cpu!

    Just didn't make sense!

If it fails on me I'm screwed though. Understood the risks..

    Thanks

    Default Warranty still valid

Just chatted with Samsung tech support online and they told me removing the sticker does not invalidate the warranty. I asked for it in writing fwiw.

I think I read that thermal throttling on these has minimal impact on performance along the lines of 3% or so. Have to do more research.

That's amazing to me. If you need to do an RMA, how will they know your serial number? Is it in the firmware somewhere?

Well I still saved the sticker and re-affixed it to the back of my Anglebird PX1 heatsink. So if it ever came to needing an RMA I will refer to that original conversation I had with their tech support. Also the serial number is on the retail box and can be pulled by running CrystalDiskInfo so I have both bases covered I think.
