why not make a tier list?

I've seen how many of you criticize tier lists and I agree you can't simplify PSU quality and performance like that but I think it's really helpful for people that are new to PCs and don't know that things like LLC reasonant converter, DC-DC,
or fan bearing mean.

orion does have a database but it doesn't specify what is better

you know the end user very well they don't wanna know what their PSU do or why it is good or bad they just want a plan recommendation

Part of the issue is that a truly non-subjective list is near, if not completely, impossible... I've tried (And I do maintain it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...VZs/edit#gid=0 ) but even that will be somewhat subjective as the user will value some features over others...

That is why I did point out THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE IT COMPLETELY OBJECTIVE

but the idea is just to order the PSUs that share similar topology, internal components, etc

Mine is much more limited in scope - mostly as a reference point for the users of the /r/buildapc server, the people there generally don't need Antec HCP/Corsair AXi/EVGA PS levels of PSU, so having them there is relatively pointless.

Yes, but like with many things, there's diminishing returns - the average user will find little benefit from a top of the line platform (HCP/AXi/PS) when a midrange platform (Whisper/RMx/G2) will work just as well for them...

what about a 360-400W g series/fanless power supply for an HTPC rig?

It's definitely not necessary but nice to have if you can afford it
