Default Are old reviews still relevant?

I've been looking at some power supplies and come across one review like the http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...Story&reid=440 evga g2 review made in 2015. I want to pickup one of these, but I've heard evga switched from Superflow to Seasonic back in 2017.

I know it's not possible to review every psu out there but how much time has to pass that these reviews become less relevant? Just curious

Wherever you heard that EVGA switched from Superdlower to Seasonic in 2017, that doesn't make sense. All EVGA power supplies are not made by the manufacturer. They use FSP, HEC, Superdlower, and possibly others I forgot for their large catalogue.

The G2 has always been made by Superflower, never changed. And when I say "made" I mean designed by their engineers, it's possible (and I believe true) not all the units are made in the quote and quote "Superflower factory" but the design is the same and the review is still relevant. Still a great PSU.

The final score is less relevant in the review but you shouldn't need a number anyway.

EVGA Superflower units are not and have never been made by Seasonic.

They have been made by other factories, though.

There was a series of EVGA PSUs made by Seasonic, but those were the "GS" series. Not the G2 or G3.

Not sure on the movements of the psu industry, but do many things change (components, design etc..) adversely or pretty much stay the same, example the time from the 2015 onward? Three years from now if I need to RMA the G2 and it's been overhauled so to speak, that it no longer resembles the old component, should this be a concern?

    Regards

Depends on the supplier. There's no blanket answer.

Some revise the unit to a cost down version if material costs get too high. Other manufacturers give new products (for better or worse) new names.

Right now, the EV industry has caused huge shortages on MOSFETs and Japanese capacitors on the market. From my stand point, I've already been offered the opportunity to use cheaper (not as good) caps and MOSFETs in their place. I said no... but that's not to say other brands would say yes just to meet demand.
