    Arrow PowerSpec PSX-850GFM Review

It's not often that a completely new product comes down out of the blue to surprise me, but today is one such occasion. Folks, Micro Center's house brand PowerSpec has now begun offering their own power supplies and would like to take your money in exchange for goods and services. We're looking at their 80 Plus Gold 850 watt offering today, which comes with some fancy RGB lighting to make sure you get some bang for your buck. It's time to find out if it's the right or wrong kind of "bang."

Ah yes, "Japan-made capacitors" last longer than "electrolytic capacitors". Sounds logical.

    Thanks for the review, Wolfie.

@Jonny: *PLEASE* could you send him some liquorice snakes in the next Corsair PSU box that he reviews? I feel so sorry for him because he's mentioned snakes and/or liquorice SO MANY TIMES in his reviews that I think it's a cry for a deep-seated longing of his heart that no one seems to be hearing within the PSU community.

Couldn't find the holdup time; was wondering because of the empty place holder for another primary capacitor

Wouldn't be surprised if it's terrible on this unit, but since I have no way of actually measuring it I didn't mention it in the review.

"This is the RGB control board. I was not able to get a part number off that one IC."

Concerning reading the chip numbers, I seem to recall a trick about heating soldering flux on the chip makes the numbers easier to read.

Really...*facepalm*,i would understand if it said Japan-made polymer caps last longer than electrolytics

This is the first time i've seen such a mistake on a box.
