    The corsair cx450 got 1 pcie connection, its not enough for a lot of gpu.
    the tx550m its a good value for money.
    The same price you got antec ae550g pro, I am not shure about fan bearing, probably sleeve.
    According to GI joe R.I.P.
    https://www.tms.co.il/ea550gpro
    in good price you got the antec vpf450, without mov.

    If my future motherboard fries before my PSU and we're so far into the future that it doesn't work with a top-end PSU I buy now, I'll buy a new one

Does it mean I can basically bypass my local retailer and get the warranty directly from Corsair?
    The seven years is from Corsair. Any time during that 7 years, you can get warranty from Corsair. It's fantastic your dealer gives you 5 years. Most only give 30 days to 2 years! But any resellers warranty is not going to negate the fact that you have a LONGER warranty from the manufacturer.

    So if it's something with a 10 year warranty and the reseller only gives you 15 days.. Guess what? You don't have a 15 day warranty. You have a 10 year warranty. You just have to contact the manufacturer at that point (after 30 days).

    Thank you so much everyone, real glad I found this forum

    I ended up buying the RM550x for ~125$ (found a listing that wasn't indexed in the stupid price comparison site I was using) - I'm sure I'm going to be happy with it!

    I have to agree with Jonny, Corsair does stand by their warranty, i had an issue and Corsair helped me out with a updated unit. I was really impressed with the customer service, so i would definitely would consider corsair as my next PSU. The CX450,550's Models are my favorite.

    Personally I'd say Whisper 450M -> Whisper 550M/Corsair RM550x(i) > Seasonic (all of them) > Formula.
    Yeah I know whisper M is also quiet but it is hard to find in some places and also pricing is a bit higher than it should be in my opinion

    Because for your current PC a Corsair CX450 is perfect.

    Maybe but he is only replacing the PSU so why not get a better one?
