Default Default What platform is this NAXN ADV?

Doing a review on a NAXN ADV, this platform looks exceedingly familiar but I can't attach a name to it. The UL number on the PCB is E351376 (HUIZHOU TIMES DRAGON TECHNOLOGY CO LTD), the case lacks a UL number.

Amusingly, the Teapo-looking capacitors are CapXon dressed up in Teapo colors. That doesn't seem like a good sign when Teapo is what a company is striving for
The 5VSB gets some nice high end Aishi caps, whatever those are (chinese, anyway).

Review preview: Acceptable performance, ribbon cables for everything, priced too high, CapXon caps of various series, couple soldering issues. Meh.

Yeah... UL numbers on the PCB merely tells you who made the PCB for non-Tier-1 PSU manufacturers since they don't make their own PCBs.

NAXN ADV is typically CWT, and seems to be the same platform beQuiet uses for the System Power U9.

If you mean the old NAXN ADV series ranging from ETL350AWT to ETL650AWT (that's the only Enermax line with NAXN ADV name), then it's group regulated CWT GPK.

Who / what are the PSU manufacturer tiers?

A tier 1 manufacturer does most, if not all, of their PCB-A assembly in house. Many also even make the PSU housings and most of the magnetics inside the PSU.

CWT is very close to being a tier 1, except they don't make the PCB's. They do make the PCB-A, magnetics, housing, etc. however.

However there is probably a big difference what industry people like Jon and me think is tier 1 and what regular folks do.

Regular folks wouldn't disagree with you industry people because they'd understand that it is tiering based on different criteria for a different purpose which is probably not important for consumers.

Would this still not be relevant to consumers as it impacts the quality control? Atleast more relevant than generalising brands' power supply quality.
