    Default Corsair RM750x 2018 vs RM1000x

    Hi guys,

I'm building a new rig and I don't know what PSU should I take between these two in the title. (RM650x/850x has no stock btw).

I was about to take the RM750x because I don't really need that 1000W supply in a 8700k oced + single 1080 ti oced. But looking at your fantastic reviews I saw that the RM1000x has an impressive perfect score so, I'm not really sure if I should expend more for this overkill PSU hitting platinum efficiency. Should I?

Also, what is new in the 2018 version of RMx series?

Thank you in advance and sorry for my inexperience.

    Greetings!

    If you don't need a 1000W, don't get a 1000W.

    Nah.

People complain about the clicking noise. Also, the new modern standby mode that is going to start getting implemented on Intel motherboards will have that relay clicking on and off so often, you'll be lucky if it lasts three years.

Guess I'm going with the 750x.

But just being curious, could I know the changes in the 2018 version? I guess I'm bad at googling, I can't really find them.

    Thank you!

LOL! Cybenetics has the best representation of the product that show that there is no performance hit between the two versions. They list it as "V2".

Essentially, the old version had wires going from the main PCB to the modular PCB for DC output connectors. The new version uses bus bars to connect the main PCB to the modular PCB which eliminates the wires and shaves 20mm off the total size of the unit on the 750W and 850W.
