    Post Retirement Announcement

Hello, folks. After much thought, I have decided that after 400 plus reviews over the last 11 years or so, 2018 will be my last year for reviewing power supplies. I am setting my official end date for my 45th birthday on November 28.

It's been a wild ride, for sure. When I got into this stuff in 2007, I was still on welfare and only worked part time as a church secretary. I was looking for a way to use my electronics background to help people avoid ending up with units like the cheap Deer power supply that killed a lot of my hardware back around the turn of the century. I had been helping people out on message boards with advice as best I could.

One day, I saw this review from a guy named jonnyGURU of an FSP unit I happened to own, and had some suggestions for how he might continue to review these little watt boxes. Somehow, this led to me being invited to review PSUs full time for his new site... this one.

Many years have passed indeed since then. In that time, a lot has changed in this game. No longer are we the only ones out there producing good reviews. No longer do we have to be quite so worried about whether or not Brand X is going to nuke our hard drives, blow up the planet, or cause the galaxy to be swallowed by a black hole.

And so, I've decided it's time to step away. I once had aspirations of being a novel writer, and tech writing has prevented me from doing so. The two are mutually exclusive for me.

I want to thank Jon and Tony for giving me the opportunity to do this for so long, and my fellow reviewers everywhere for keeping me on top of my game. And of course, my readers for tolerating my weird sense of humor and near complete lack of sanity for all this time... you poor, poor people.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of reviews to get done before November.

I absolutely can understand you wanna make a change to your life. Still, for me, as a PSU enthusiast, this is no good news. I wish you the best!

Thx for all the reviews. But what does this mean for this site?

Not sure - hoping I gave Tony enough time to work something out. We just got the FastAuto... someone else should get to play with it for a while.

You have been an asset for us all, and will be sorely missed; but I assume you will continue to peruse the site.

Tech writing is certainly very different from normal literature, but I hope you will include some tech characters.

Thanks Wolf for all these years! I loved your dedication and goals you set for yourself, and I especially liked the regularity of your reviews. Always weekly or biweekly.

With your reviews, I started to get more and more interested in PSUs, just a few years ago. And from the first one, I enjoyed that sense of humour (poor me ). Thanks for all!

And I hope that your new path will be absolutely rewarding

You say that we have plenty of good reviewers in the market now, but where will we go for obscure puns, music references, and a dash of quadrophenia?

Either way, best of luck sir, in all of your future endeavors!

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication over the years, Jeremy.

You've really helped me and a bunch of other people learn a lot about power supplies and electronics in general. Several knowledgebase projects, inspired by the regular reviews and active forum commentary, and a ton of quirky humor later; I think it's safe to say you're leaving quite the legacy behind you.

It's perhaps a bit of a missed opportunity that you didn't have an apprentice to pass the baton to (but there's still time for that I suppose)

Either way, while I am sad to see you step down, I'm actually really glad you've decided to commit to writing. Having read a sample of how your mind works, I have a feeling I'll be a proud owner of a copy of your book, whenever it sees the light of day.

Oh, and, why not accompany a high-quality narrative with some nice photos? You seem to have a knack for those too, it could make for an interesting combo... Just a thought.
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.
