    Default 8700K and Cryorig M9i - skyrocket temp to 95C in Asus Real Bench

    HI. I have 8700K on stock with mobo Asus Z370 Pro Gaming + case Fractal Design R5. Cpu temps on games are fine 70C+.

    3dmark physic test looped 70-80C.
    Unigine Heave 50-65C max on some spots.
    Crysis 3 first level 60-72C

    When i run Asus Real Bench it skyrockets in stress test to 95C, and i am stopping test.
    In Prime95 its worst with small ftt,but i guess its using AVX.
    Any ideas why it causing this?
    My cpu cooler is Cryorig M9i.Cpu is not overclocked.

    XMP profile enabled in bios on memory 3000mhz. UEFI STOCK bios. Cpu clocks during test 4700mhz so auto oc is on.

    Is sense to play with this for syntetics only? Thanks. I am only testing games.

    Do you have an option for Multicore enhancement in the BIOS? If this is set to auto it will basically OC all cores to 4.7 which would explain the temps. On ASUS boards it is on by default I believe.

    Yes that option is on propably , because clocks on load is 4700mhz.
    Is my gaming temps ok or not? But avx benches temps are bad

    They are not bad for that cooler if all cores at 4700. If your happy mid 75c is not terrible for gaming for that CPU on the cooler. You can disable to option if you want temps to be a bit lower.

    It should be fine that bench mark is using all the processor speed which shouldn't usually happened when gaming, but if your still having thoughts you can always opt-in on water cooling and will cost a bit/lot (depends what will you get).

    delid it and put something good on it etc. and just block everything...it's nice seeing you're card not even hit 50c anymore. That's about right though, even 4.8ghz can easily go to 70-80c. Highly recommend mixed metal rigged block loop lol

    What I found recently is this:

    So there are two possibilitys:

    a) Intel overshoots the TDP dramatically
    b) the soldering of the Die to the heatspreader allows for higher TDP

    Yeah and that is why you do NOT buy an Intel and tell them, if you want to, that you won't buy them if they don't solder it...

    Intel in the last couple of years seem to be optimizing for lower manufacturing cost...

    With Intel TDP you also need to remember that there quoted for base clock speed.

    So for the 8700k all cores @ 3.7GHz is what Intel uses to get the 95W TDP. Normal turbo on all cores is 4.3Ghz with some going up to 4.4-4.7Ghz, this uses much more power and generates a lot more heat. I would not be surprised if the turbo TDP of that CPU's is somewhere around 120w - 140w.

    If he does have MCE on then all core will be at 4.7GHz which is very hot indeed.
