Default Is Raidmax reputable for PSUs?

I recently bought a raidmax cobra 600w 80+ gold based on almost unbeatable price and good newegg reviews for the most part but after doing further reseach i found VERY mixed reviews on raidmax's PSU selection. Anyone have experience with this PSU, good or bad??

No, they are pretty bad, last time I checked.

So I'd rather stay away from them.

And if something seems too good to be true, it mostlikely is...

Some Raidmax units are good, but then some (mostly older) ones are terrible. The only review I could find of a "Cobra" unit was a 500W bronze model, and it was pretty bad.

Make sure you read reviews next time before you buy a power supply.

Raidmax has a huge mixed bag of Andyson made units. Some garbage and some decent. Many of them are inaccurately labeled for their given efficiency (e.g. claimed 80+ Gold but actually bronze) with many cost cutting measures done to them; thinner cables, down graded fans (from 2BB to sleeve), a lower quality capacitor selection or less capacitors, thin housings, etc.

For what it's worth; I would just say to avoid them. As a brand, they're happy where they are at and have shown no moves to actually push quality and reliable products.

the CX450 and 550 are better choices.

Well newegg reviews were like 91% 5 egg so i figured look no further but then i was kinda like "why have i never heard of raidmax?" so i did some more research, forum and elsewhere and i got a little worried, im gonna return it and get an evga 600w 80+ silver instead, definitely worth the extra cash.

And not the best choice. For just a little more you can get high quality PSUs like the Seasonic Focus "non-plus" 550W, or 450W for the same price.

If budget is tight a CX450,550 is much much better than Raidmax, if you can a Seasonic Focus is very good also. (Seasonic is a great OEM)

I remember a old AMD Athlon 1700+ PC i made the mistake of using a Raidmax PSU, aside from releasing smoke a month later, my (Sirfa made) Thermaltake Xaser Power supply is hell of a lot better than that horrible psu.
