Default Which PSU out of these would you pick?

    Hello,

    My current rig is
    Code:
    PSU: CX600M Corsair
    CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K LGA1150 (OC'd to 4.4Ghz)
    MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H
    RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz
    GPU: EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3
    SSD: Samsung
    HDD: 4TB WD Black
Thinking of buying a new PSU because I'm not quite fond of the current PSU (and it also started producing fan noise), checked local shops here and here is a compiled list of what I can pick up (ordered by price desc)

    Code:
Antec High Current Pro 1000W 80 PLUS Platinum
Corsair AX Series, AX860 Watts Platinum
    CORSAIR RM850i 850W 80 PLUS Gold
    EVGA 1000 GQ 1000W 80 PLUS Gold
    Seasonic 860W 80 PLUS Platinum
    Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 850W Platinum
Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold
The first 3 are a bit over my budget but I think I can push it. I was thinking the Seasonic 860W but I read a lot of reviews that it fails after a year or so. What do you think?

    Thanks

A 850W - 1000w PSU is overkill for your system. You only need a good 550W PSU because at full load your build would require about 430W.

You mean this Thermaltake ? : http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...Story&reid=415 i thought that it has been EOL (End of life).
    Anyway, i own a Corsair AX760 , a Seasonic 660 Platinum , and the Tt GRAND Platinum 850 that i said above.
I'm perfectly satisfied from all these PSUs, and all of them have been used for more than 2 years so far, so i can recommend all 3 of them (*out of these 3, perhaps the Tt GRAND Platinum 850 would be my choice by a small margin) , and.... , although i don't own it, i'm more than certain that the RM850i would be another solid choice as well.

@Al3xand3r I usually like to get higher wattage than what I need as I will probably use the PSU when I upgrade my machine but point considered, thanks.

@sith'ari Ya it's the one you linked.. maybe its EOL but it's available at my local dealer. Thanks for your feedback.

The newer technology is just getting more efficient, making the argument of headroom less viable as each year passes by

And power draw of components in the same price segment hasn't really gone up in years. For example, you can run i5 Coffee Lake and 1060 6GB on a good 300W PSU.

Need for headroom is only there if you plan to move up in segments (like multi-GPU). 850W would be about right for 1080Ti SLI, but outlook on SLI technology in general is pretty bleak anyway.
