Default Confusion over S12II Warranty Length

I'm getting some conflicting information regarding the length of Seasonic's S12II warranty.

I wanted to RMA my S12II 520W which I bought in June of 2012. The PSU box has a sticker claiming a five year warranty and so does the warranty card inside. I've attached scans from both. This jonnyguru.com review from 2010 also notes the five year length.

However, Seasonic's website now claims that the five year warranty only applies to units purchased after September 2012, and that units bought earlier are only warrantied for three years. This was also confirmed via email by a Seasonic service rep.

While it's too late in my case, I'm hoping that this can help clarify matters for other Seasonic users. Did the five year warranty policy for S12II units change recently? Had I tried to RMA the PSU earlier in 2017 would the claimed warranty not have been honoured?

It's five years. Did you show your pictures to the Seasonic service rep to prove that your unit has five year warranty all over it despite what the website says?

Are you sure your receipt is the correct one for this unit? Did you buy more than one S12II?

    Hello Variable,

We have sorted this out and you are right, US had a specific warranty time that was not mentionned. However, our RMA Center in US, when you apply for any RMA, will apply this 5 years warranty. So kindly apply for RMA and if you are under warranty, we will gladly take care of your PSU.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
    Best Regards,

Thanks for your help in clearing this up.
Would it make a difference that I bought it in Canada?

    Hello,

Not at all. If you are under warrnaty, then we will take care of it, even if purchased from Canada. Most important is the sate of purchase in order to apply the 5 years warranty.

    Thank you.
    Best Regards,
