    Default 80 Plus certification updates

Why not have a thread for all the new power supplies popping up at Ecova every few days. Many people miss them, unannounced and unknown power supplies appear sometimes too, but it's not always worth it to make a separate topic for each and every one of them. My browser notifies me of any new ones every day.

    Last 3 days:

    Bitfenix https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...id=1329&type=2
Bitfenix Formula 80+ Gold BF450-750G, DC-DC and 100% Jap caps.
Ecos ID goes back to Chieftec GPS-C, which uses CWT GPS LLC+DCDC platform, but be careful because Ecos ID is very often wrong. (Two PSUs using same ID can have different platforms or even OEMs).

    Chieftec https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...x?id=19&type=2
    BDF400S-BDF600S, BDF650C-BDF1000C
That's the Chieftec Proton series. The S and C models use different platforms. The C models have the same ID as High Power Direct12 Bronze II, but that's incorrect since they're different.

    EVGA https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...id=1295&type=2
    500BV model.

    FSP https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...x?id=37&type=2
HGE and HGA models, respectively some Hydro G and some Hexa.

    High Power https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...x?id=42&type=2
HP1 (same ID as those low wattage Chieftec Protons), GP series (with dead links), HPW

    LDLC https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...?id=227&type=2
LDLC US: Seasonic Prime Gold rebrands (confirmed elsewhere), EC-500 (probably Eco Plus)

    Rosewill https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...?id=106&type=2
    RD400S, RD450S

    Seasonic https://plugloadsolutions.com/80Plus...x?id=60&type=2
TR, PD2, GD2: Prime Ultra series.

The Prime Ultra Series really make me wonder... the results are the same as the old Primes and also as the Focuses (for 550-750 W Gold and Platinum). How does the listing work then? Do they mail Ecova "make new entries with the same efficiency numbers, but a different model number"? And voilà, "SSR-550FX" becomes "SSR-550GD2 Active PFC F3"?

Also, do we discuss the entries here or would that bloat the thread?

Yeah, that's roughly how it works. Doing a whole fresh certification for a new unit costs more, so Ecova allows you to clone a different unit's certification for a lower price, provided the internals are the same. But brands often ignore that last requirement and clone certificates from units that are completely different internally, which makes the same-ID trick unreliable.

    Extreme example: https://plugloadsolutions.com/psu_re...628_Report.pdf https://plugloadsolutions.com/psu_re...8.1_Report.pdf
Different platforms and different OEMs altogether.

And yes, I think this is mainly for discussing all the new entries and PSUs until they have a topic of their own.

Also, EVGA went pretty far here to save money.
Then it surprises me that Super Flower didn't have their Leadex Bronze platform certified yet. Are they not planning on releasing units themselves?

Someone at Sea Sonic must have thought "Damn, we could have saved the development cost for those Prime Gold and Platinum units, the Focuses ended up being way too good!"

Orion, are you adding these information on your website as well? I just sadly check it every once in a while and nothing new there, unfortunately...

I haven't had time to do proper articles, and it's hard for me to use "news language".
