Does it make sense to get a higher quality unit with only 450W?
It seems most high end PSUs are 600w or more?
I could for example get a Seasonic Prime Gold 650W for 105 Euro?

Does it even make sense to look for a higher end power supply or should i stop worrying and buy one of the mid range 450w PSUs recommended in this thread (would prefer the BeQuiet Pure Power 450 modular)?

Did you consider your expected power draw?

Let's see a real life example, an overclocked (CPU and GPU) Core i7 with RX 470 takes around 260W DC while gaming. Now you have an i5, so likely it's less power hungry.

Drawing around 260W DC at most, do you think that you need more than an high quality 450W PSU?

So i have to decide between:

    Seasonic G-450
    Fortron/Source Hydro X 450
    Super Flower Platinum King 450W
    BeQuiet Pure Power 450

There is no Pure Power 10 450W. What is your max price? Around 80 euro? Then the Bitfenix Whisper Gold 450W is the best power supply.

Budget is between 80 and 120 Euro.

Noise does not matter, the two CPU fans at above 2100rpm dominate everything.

    @the_mask: sorry, meant the 500w bequiet: https://geizhals.at/be-quiet-pure-po...-a1564594.html

In that case Corsair Vengeance 400W, Seasonic G-series 450W, BitFenix Whisper Gold 450W or Corsair RM550x.
Corsair Vengeance 400W is a good PSU for its price and comes with 5 years warranty
Seasonic is even better, but also has 5 years warranty.
BitFenix is a bit better and has 7 years warranty.
Corsair is even better then all others and comes with 10 years warranty.

    All are good choices.

Joerg, I'm still undecided whether you are the Riddler or the Joker...

Back in topic, 450W or 550W matters mainly whether there's a significant price different, or not (and secondly if there's a significant low power efficiency difference and it matters, but that's not the OP case): I think in Austria the Bitfenix Whisper 450 and 550 should have almost the same price and both behaved better than the various Antec TPC/Edge, Seasonic G, XFX TS (as they're all the same PSU platform), so whichever you picked IMVHO there's no question at the 70-80 price level.
    Best, Luca

Thank you! I will order the RM550x. With 10 years of warranty and enough power for a i7-6 overclocked and a upper mid range graphics Card i should be on the safe side...

@GI_Joe: Sorry for not chosing one of the Antec PSUs, but i still don't like how this problem was handled. You are right that my HCP750 is out of warranty now, but it was well within warranty when the problem first occurred. And it seems your solution to disable some c-states only masked a problem which got worse over time.

And i am not the only one with that problem with the HCP750:

I just found all that info today and see it was a huge mistake to believe the explanation with C-Level bugs and so on back in 2014.

I am the Royal Flush, you have no idea what I impacted in 12 years

For Markus, accepted, just I know how that is viewed in our Europe office and at all other companies, warranty starts from original purchase.

HCP-750 was designed a tick too early for C6, that is its problem. Your problem appears larger/faulty, partially minimum load based, but I can't define it remotely and getting your unit back to Taiwan for analysis makes no sense, it is EOL.

And part of your links are about Asus Power Surge, and that was the most fucked up MBU feature for all PSUs.
