I still respect Antec for their good quality, i have some of their PSUs here at work, one of the old TruePower Series sits in a cheap PC placed at a temporary construction site, 50 degrees celsius hot, got sand shoveled upon and it still works fine (although the fan got a little bit noisy).

Yes, you are right, it was my mistake not to reopen the case.

Why didn't you get a replacement when you asked 2014?!
Especially since you knew it was the PSU...

BeQuiet power supplies are commonly used here (Austria), but i am not so sure if they are as good as Seasonic or Corsair.
Lower End Seasonic units tend to get louder than most graphics cards. So not really an option.

The Pure Power L10 with 400W should be fine for you...
Straight Power 10 has a better fan and more Warranty, differences between the Straight and Pure Power are relatively slim right now...

Super Flower units aren't that quiet at lower loads, sadly...

If you need a PSU with 140mm, Cooler Master V-Series should be a good option...

I made the mistake to believe the explanation from antec support that C5/C6 is incompatible with that power supply.

    Hi Markus,

    For the warranty,

I understand, you had a stone-old TP which broke and got a HCP as replacement, since we had no TP's anymore. So if you are beyong 5 years from TP purchase, you are out of warranty.

    For the PSU problem:
It is still weird, but the HCP could be damaged, though I still assume that there are more system components contributing to your problem.

For my fan question, ok you cool it. I have to ask that because some end users seal off their systems and then wonder why their MBUs and GPUs are melting (HAPPENS!)

As one last try, enable C-States back C3 included. Sometimes, with BIOS updates, MB makers change shit and what worked does not work anymore. So enable C3 and try.

    Hi!

I cleaned both sides of the cables and the sockets with compressed air and plugged everything back in. Shutdowns still happen.

    Tried:

C1-C6 on, package state support on: fail
C1-C3 on, C5/6 off, package state support on: fail
C1-C6 on, package state support off: fail
C1-C3 on, C5/6 off, package state support off: fail
All C States off, package state support off: fail

For a replacement PSU: Maybe I can borrow a really stone old TP-750 from work for some months and save up to get a better long time solution.

Whats the difference between HCG, Edge and TP Classic on the technology side? I see the they have different cabling options. Which one would you recommend in the range between 500 and 600W?

That PSU must have serious issues from your complete C-State failures. (Especially with increase of failures over time) No clue, honestly.

I would use 550, not ike others saying here 450. Gives you some headroom.

HCG is old BRONZE design, TP Classic and Edge are newer. If you don't insist on modular, the TP Classic is as good as EDGE and cheaper, they are both half-bridge LLC, which is upper middle class performance.

    Sorry for the trouble.

TPC now has the same fan profile as the EDGE?
Had an Edge and it was fine. TPC not so much -> gets loud at around 300W primary...

    Did you change that?

With a high quality 450W PSU he already can power two RX 470 graphics card and have room for overclocking the CPU. However he only had one mainstream graphics card every time, so 550W or even more looks quite useless.

High Current Gamer is a 7 year old Seasonic S12II Bronze design, double forward with group regulation, nothing interesting.

Edge and True Power Classic are both based on Seasonic S12G/G-series. Modern LLC resonant platform with DC-DC, very good 3/4 years ago. But nowadays not that special. There are a lot of better platforms today which cost the same.

I am not so noise picky, and that is why I said 550, not 450 and I called them upper middle-class.

    I ain't so devilish

That's only half the truth: I had the opposite experience, with the Edge less agreeable than the True Power Classic, because, albeit at lower ambient temp and higher power output the Edge controller was actually less conservative (less aggressive), the Ong Hua's sound signature was perceivably nastier than the ADDA's one.
    Best, Luca
