Maybe not from Mask, but you may have heard something along the lines of "that PSU will can be use under 100% load, 24/7 continuous operation @ 50C for 7 years, as it is warrant as such". That statement isn't necessarily false; however, that warranty period must also consider the expected sales/profit and RMA/failure rate of the product within the time period that the company is comfortable of giving. Even if the quality isn't at all different, those factors can affect whether a company give it a 3-5 warranty or a 7-10 year warranty, or in this case, 12.

For example and just to make a point, it may be a business decision for PSU companies like Vivo, Riotoro, Cyonic, etc. to warrant the Prime series as it is for 5-7 years, because they are new to the PSU scene and don't know where it will take them in the future; on the other hand, Seasonic's expected sales may had exceeded and gave them a greater profit margin than what they had originally thought, in which they are hoping that the RMA rate doesn't increase too much while using that 2 extra year as a competitive edge to further increase sales.

So yes, a power supply quality can, indeed, play a role in deciding the warranty period, but I believe what Mask was trying to say is that you can't make a blanket statement that warranty is an clear cut indication of quality by itself.

Well the obvious, using higher quality components and doing better quality control.

For example Thermaltake with their 7 years warranty on really lowend power supplies which probably really gonna struggle after 5 years with heavy use.

On the other hand, you'll get a new unit when it fails between 5-7 years

You're overlooking the RMA cost: the world is not Czech Republic, in most countries you should rely upon the manufacturer/importer.

How to test "reliable". Put it on a mining rig
The best PSU ATX I have used for this job is RM1000x/i( except server psu )
12 year is long but very risky if customer use for mining machine (prime have gold and platin with lower price , it will fit for mining)
Example in 12 years you will replace 3-4 time for one psu customers bought . haha

I don't think replacemente PSUs have also a 12 years warranty, I'd be surprised if the replacement unit warranty were in excess of 6/12 months.

They have to, otherwise you could have scenarios like "Your 12y-warranty PSU has died after 3 years, so here's a replacement unit but with 1 year warranty. So when it dies after one year, we don't owe you anything." Therefore you only got 3+1 years out of your 12-year warranty PSU.

We already use high grade components and we already have strong quality control but how will the end consumer know aside from the normal marketing blurbs which most brands will write about anyway?

The 12 Years Warranty is, in our view, a more clear statement to our quality and us standing behind our products.
