Here in the forums, you do have to be registered to view attachments.

We're talking about the ones out on the site like in the review section.

I agree, I have also seen images from here directly hotlinked.

I'm guilty of using some of the images but I give credit to jonnyguru and a host them myself so I don't take bandwidth from this site.

Watermarking usually needs the pictures to be taken off the servers and put on your own, (so whoever hotlinked already sees blanks ) to go through a quite lengthy initial process of editing. After that its easier to maintain.

Mods on most sites I don't reckon care about whether the pics are hotlinked or not. I've had a go at one to many for now and most have been too thickskulled Worst case was when 5 guys had some of your site pic URLs in their sig.

Xbit once had horseporn on thier frontpage for ~6 hours in ~2000 because they hotlinked images from another famous site. Haven't seen any since so I guess it worked.

Ye Jon you're right. I was confused as the last time it also stated Apache while you stated you hadn't moved over yet IIRC

Time for those scripts then! I've seen one directed to pic where its a donkey bearing a gouging grin saying:
"Oops! Bad luck mate. Try opening your ears next time.. HOTLINKING IS ILLEGAL!"
