    Default Hemi-Anechoic Chamber Construction

My new ventures demand the construction of a hemi-anechoic chamber. This will be a totally independent room, made by concrete, bricks and all the exotic materials to support this project. I have already reached out to some folks that specialize in this stuff and got everything I need, however if anyone has any input in this matter he/she is very welcome to share it.

Will post some pics of the construction phases and the final result once it is done. Already ordered the insulation material and when this damn cold goes back a bit, we will start the actual building phase (actually the workers I hired will do, not me. Don't deal with building stuff )

My purpose is to hit lower than 10 dBA even with mid-noise ambient on the outside of the chamber and keep echoes inside to the minimum, in order to have as accurate as possible results. I also need to buy a new microphone and a second top-notch power analyzer, for below 16.6 dBA measurements, although I already know that such low noise measurements are somehow irrelevant to PSUs and in general, since below 20 dBA any noise is almost inaudible. Since a new microphone for my sound analyzer and a second sound analyzer will probably cost more than the hemi-anechoic chamber it self, this can wait. Have other priorities afterwards (new Chromas, new power analyzer with 0.01% accuracy etc)

Definitely a silence of craziness... Or a craziness of silence, that's really crazy anyway...

Are you going to take some inspiration from Mike Chin works?

I know he's currently rebuilding the chamber.
    Best, Luca

he does? Didn't know this. I think that there is no need to bother him since I will follow a different approach, because I will start from scratch and I won't make a room inside another room, since I won't use a pre-existing facility but I will build instead a new from scratch. Mike's thread about his chamber is highly informative though!

It will cost a small fortune , but this is something that I always had in my mind to do.

Will be very interesting to see you hit sub20. With enough money it can be done, but it can also be a mentally exhausting procedure to get everything set just right.

Almost finished. Yesterday we installed an over 300 kilos door. It was supposed to be only 260 kilos but it actually is much heavier, since it took six people (the sixth is hidden in the photos, behind the door) and LOTS of effort to install it in place. The walls are around 36cm thick with 10cm sound blocking material within. More photos once the internal sound absorption material will be installed.

it is almost ready! Tomorrow the rest of the noise absorbing sheets will be installed along with the special carpet which is also noise-absorbing.

Once the door closes, you can only hear your thoughts in there Will post more pics of course once it is fully ready.
