B-b-b-b-but, it loses in 3D gaming to 7700K! It's a complete and utter failure!

Just wait for the 6c/12t iterations, they'll surely be 'an even more abysmal failure' . [/SARCASM]

The Ryzen 7 1700 is THE CPU. 5 minutes of overclocking gets you better performance than the 1800x for 3/5 the price or approximately 1/3 the price of a 6900k. The 1700 comes with a pretty good cpu cooler as well.

Of course you could OC a 6900K and leave the Ryzen in the dust, but you'd have to cough up thrice the bucks first .

But intel i7 6900ks hit a wall at about 4.2GHz so not that much more than the ryzen chips seem to manage

That gap will also probably become non-existent once more mature BIOS and better understandings of the chips come out.

Most overclocking that has been done has been limited on the amount of tweaking applied.
