Those are north american pricing, I guess, european one are higher and maybe too close to current Intel offering (not HEDT): I mean, IMO those critties should perform really better than Intel current lineup, to ask those money.

They compare it with Socket 2011 high-end, if it performs similarly than sure the price is OK and I guess that 6c/12t would be already adequate upgrade from FX-8xx0, not to mention 8c/16t. So I guess than the price would be OK.

If it is somewhere in between than it is still better price/performance than Integrated Electronics, I guess, but not that much I've expected. Because of high european taxation, among other things, the price will indeed be dangerously close to 10000 CZK, that's nowhere to cheap. You can buy decent second-hand motor scooter for such money

The top of the line 8c/16t is supposed to be 600 euros iirc

I'm really waiting for AM4 Ryzen. I'm still running my old Phenom II AM2+ system because I didn't wanna go for Intel

    You Philip, so "romantic"!

You need to let go, mate, and embrace the dark... ahem, the blue side of the force!

I've also had X4 (well, unlocked X2), but upgraded to FX-8150 some time ago, X6s were scarce already at that time. Highly-clocked X4 would still work, but hey, the only thing my CPU does besides some mild gaming is crunching BOINC so more cores help there…that's also the reason why real upgrade for me would be 8c/16t…

Well Phenom II is better then the current FX, but not really fast by current standards. I've had a Phenom II X2 and X3, but already replaced them with a Xeon X3440 and X5670, last one secondhand of course.

Not true. Thuban has better IPC, but highly-clocked FX-6xx0 are already faster per core than even Thuban. And FX-8xx0 are overall faster.

And what was the cost of that? Extreme power consumption. It was clocked to high and the IPC was way to low. Phenom II with 4, 6 and 8 cores and some higher clocks on 32nm SOI would probably be better then Bulldozer ever could be. Only with Excavator and lower clocks, the performance/watt was OK.

    And FX-8xx0 are overall faster.
If you would actually use that seventh and eighth core, not many programs do.
