Default Issues w/ Crossfire on 650i Chipset?

Ok... so I'm fixin' to replace the Bad Axe 2 w/ the MSI 975 Platinum and today I find that MSI sent me the 650i Platinum board instead.

Well... I'll make do with what I have... if it'll run stable.

I know there's issues with running SLI on non-Nvidia chipset, but should I expect problems trying to run two X1950XTX cards on an Nvidia chipset?

AFAIK, there is no official support for Crossfire in Nvidia chipsets. Maybe hacked drivers ? Only Intel and AMD/ATI chipsets are crossfire compatible. I guess you can put two ATI on this board but I doubt you'll be able to team them for a crossfire setup. There is some good news though :

I believe some ULI chipsets were CF compatible but Nvidia acquired ULI.

It might be sooner rather than later. I'd read somewhere that crossfire would work on nVidia chipsets, I think it was speculation prior to the actual launch of crossfire though.

It's entirely a software issue, so you only need hacked drivers. AMD will eventually support xfire on nvidia chipsets since SLI is killing xfire in installed user base, even with Intel supported chipsets.

The boards with Nvidia chipsets don't support Crossfire and hence they came for the SLi setups mainly, and the 680i came equipped also to allow SLi and a PPU. They are the best boards for Intel 65nm and for HDD/RAM performance.
But Crossfire since X850XT has always supported a wide range of chipsets although SLi didn't. Maybe it'll work but there will be driver and performance issues. If it was possible, I reckon Toms Hardware would've used the X1900XTX Crossfire with this testing.

Thanks mp666 just posted the same link.

"Plans" doesn't help me get this working "now."

I've got too much to do to experiment. I'd just as well try and get another board if there's doubt this will work now.

The Bad Axe 2 board up and died. No post. So I need to do something.

Arg! That's not worth a damn. Hopefully you can get them to send the correct board this time.

Well, I took some 8800GTS's out of another machine and put them in this one for the time being and will RMA the Bad Axe 2.
