They can always cut the cost from something else that it's not related with the PC's safety (*which is my 1st priority).
Personally, for example, i would rather buy a cheap GPU and play a game at low quality settings while my pc will be safe with a quality PSU,
rather than putting my money on a stronger GPU and risk the longevity of this GPU + the longevity of my entire system by putting a cheap PSU which might present tons of problems in long term.

I don't have any difficulties to play relatively modern games like Risen 2 or skyrim etc. Only the newest generation of games might be unplayable (*although i don't have any of them in order to check it)
As far as web browsing, my CPU is only get stressed with Tom's webpage, which is extremely "heavy" compared to all the others!!.

Well there may still be some single-eyed king among blinds, in the low-end segment. Most ppl indeed buy cheap crap and if there is some at least half decent…

The latest Xilence units seemed capable from what I've glimpsed (there was some review linked here).

The mindset of people is either: I'm buying a GTX 1060 for my PC! Please recommend a unit under $40.

And then you have the other people. ROOOOAR! My GTX 1060 gaming rig is strong, beastly! Give me a good 750W power supply for $100.

Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little and poking fun at people, but it is a shame nobody ever wants to just spend the $60 for a good 450W PSU like the Hydro X 450.

But if people are going to buy cheap crap we better have reviews so they can choose the least bad power supply.

GTX 1060? LOL, get up from the ground. Here most of the idiots get 1070 or 1080 for a purchase price of my car (I've already invested a lot more in it, but still, it did much greater job in the meantime any graphics will ever do for them) and because of that they don't have money for anything else.

Would rather get RX470 and some decent case, Noctua fans and PSU than that. In half a year both the cards will be obsolete anyway, better to make some more money and upgrade after a year.

Any expensive piece of hardware if I were to buy it, like a GTX 1070, I'd probably regret it right after. $400 for it, when a $100 GPU could get 60FPS on the same games, just at lower settings; but really, low settings are the same as the ultra settings of some years ago, so what's really the difference? If only we could make people see the low graphics of today the same way as they saw them years ago. But now I'm just getting into philosophy.

Would you like to take a look for it?
We (or is it just me?) still don't know much about the work of the strange OEM on the inside...

Some people didn't make the money that they spend.

There is an old song that has a chorus that ends "the handbags and the glad rags that your granddad had to sweat for you to buy."

And so what's the reason behind running a legacy PC?
