    Default Will We Eventually Be Seeing More Complicated Transient Response Testing?

    Sites that test transient response primarily test it at 20% and 50% loads and apply a specific type of load. What about a transient response, though, at 70%? Or what about a transient response of only the 12V rail, for instance (rather than all 3)? Or what about larger transient spikes, ones that shoot even higher up?

    I think the problem is there are way too many possibilities here, infinite. But do any reviewers plan to add more elaborate transient response testing in the future?

    The reason transient response testing is done the way it's done is that it's precisely described as such in Intel's ATX specification for power supplies.

    Adding any more to it would be out of curiosity rather than necessity. Given the reviewers' tight schedule, the ample amount of work that goes into a full review and the fact that reviewing PSUs typically pays rather poorly; I doubt anyone's gonna look forward to expanding the list of tests to be performed anytime soon.

    You're welcome to do it yourself, though

    You can say that again. It certainly is not a way to make the ends meet. Most of the folks who have been doing it for a long time do it just for shits and giggles or as an outlet.
