One asks more like why KG than repeats that nonsense. All units are obliged by that requirement as has been just recently discussed here, for some time now. I also noticed that when I've been through the specs yesterday BTW, and what stroke my eyes was that they said how great the units are when they are sub-1 W. When the requirement is actually 0.5 W.

Anyway, it also has little to do with efficiency. This is about the so-called "phantom power". No load losses. The SB circuit itself can be efficient all it wants if the PFC and other primary components waste power.

For fuck's sake. How is that "news"? Shame on Kit Guru for regurgitating that.

Another classic sentence in this fluff piece:

"They come with active PFC and PWM technology for added stability"

PFC adds stability? PFC is also required by law. And "PWM technology"??? So the PSU is an SMPS like every other on the market and not a magic potato????

Well if it only was KitGuru that was writing "news" like this... In my experience most sites prefer this, just copy and pasting PR bs.

But the MasterWatt Lite is only 80 Plus White and 230V only. Seems only the PCB is the same thing shared here.
