Shindengen? (I don't dare say NEC, they're too big for small-time fabrication)
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

Can't you eat a beef which costs less than 500 bucks per pound?

You can buy "Kobe" hamburgers at the Acme in the US now. It supposedly is Kobe-style beef. They are good, even if they are not true Japanese imports. So that supports what you say.

It's ok. But my frugality easily rewires my brain to be just as accepting of a Five Guys burger.

Making a hamburger out of Kobe doesn't make sense. Part of the "experience" is the marbling and by grinding it, you completely negate that.

Hmm. As much as I like 5 Guys (it's in NJ now), this is better. We may miss the "Kobe experience," just as we are missing out on genuine from-Japan Kobe beef. But 5 Guys is better than Burger King, and this is better than 5 Guys. It's even better than the Hamburger Hamlet from 20 years ago. So I'll take it.

Hamburger favoritism is very subjective. Take In-n-Out burger, for example. Why do people like it? I have no idea. It's horrible. But people line up for hours for it. Is it just because of the "animal sauce", because the patty is like McDonalds and the bread is toasted until it's completely dry.
