I question it being a budget unit, when for the price you can get several 80+ Gold DC-DC based units.

Even the fan is mediocre, especially compared to their silent wings series.

Philip, pricing isn't particularly favourable (as for any BQ unit), and I appreciated very much your help but at the same time those options are seemingly not that comparable: one costs 10 bucks more, another has 100w less and questionable parts, one is not modular... I mean, taking that way why not comparing it with a RM550x? As a matter of fact 90 is not too far from 70, so we can appreciate a 10 years warranty, a top notch performance, and so on...

I still wait for Aris & Pavel cross loading tables to form a more informed opinion about those Pure 9 units (since that seems the main technical objection about those PSUs).

Imo the fan is a great one for a PSU in this price class. It should be a rifle bearing like the Pure Power 8.

The only real problem of this PSU is that they didn't give it individual voltage regulation. They should have made the same changes as with the Straight Power 10. Straight Power 10 is Aurum with individual voltage regulation, Pure Power 9 is just Raider with with some really small changes, which don't affect the performance.

FSP Raider with individual voltage regulation like the Straight Power 10 was perfect. It would also be a good addition to the current market.

I also don't expect that it would cost a lot more for be quiet!. That's why I don't get this decision from be quiet!. They had the opportunity for a great PSU for it's price. (good looking, modular, black cables , silent, high efficiency, relative cheap, good performance, good quality for it's price point) But instead they forgot that performance was also important.

Also SilentiumPC Enduro FM1 (used to be Supremo M1 as well). Soon there will be a direct comparison of two.

Bit-tech is seemingly rather questionable for their PSU reviews, I wouldn't even quote them here... geez, look at that 20w efficiency level, they comparatively reported the EVGA P2 850 at about 83% (Aris recorded a more modest and plausible 66% at the same load)...

Unfortunately the SilentiumPCs psu availability is really poor. They are easy to buy in easters Europe, I guess, but for the rest of the world those are hard to find.
