Default Corsair AX860i or my motherboard?

This problem started a few months ago and then never came back....until two days ago. In the middle of a download my computer seemed to have shut itself off. When trying to power it back on, the PSU clicks, everything lights up and powers on only for about 1 second and then the power supply clicks off. At this point I thought i was SOL. but after disconnecting the power cord from the psu, holding the power button to drain the residual power, then plugging the thing back in i was up and running again....until I started playing Witcher 3 and the computer cut out on me again. Woke up this morning and was able to mash the power continuously until the PC decided it wanted to turn on. When I remove all the modular cables and try the PSU self test the light turns green and the fan spins so I'm wondering if it's the motherboard...I have a backup Antec BP550 I can test and keep in the system if I need to RMA the Corsair unit. What do you guys think this sounds like?

    here are my components:

    i7-4770k
    gigabyte z87x-d3h
    16gb 1600mhz kingston hyperx
    240gb kingston hyperx 3k ssd
    evga gtx 970
    corsair ax860i
    2 WD blue 1tb drives
    thermaltake water 3.0 pro

I should also state that Corsair Link doesn't show the PSU overheating so I'm not convinced it's a heat issue. I keep the fan at 40% at all times. I'm not sure how to monitor the rails to see if they're "within ATX spec" but that may be a possibility...

Since you have a replacement PSU, you shouldn't even ask!!
Try the replacement unit and tell us the results.
P.S. Do you have a UPS? if yes, which one?

( P.S.2: I just couldn't resist!!!: Are you Dirk Kuyt, the former Liverpool player? If yes, go buy yourself a new PSU & mobo and don't waste our time!! )

haha no unfortunately I am not the real Dirk Kuyt. But do you really know where to buy and how to use a flux capacitor? are you the real Doc Brown? weird that it says I'm a "micro ATX user" cause I'm not....

.....anyways...yes I can try another known good PSU but I'm writing this at work and can't obviously do that at the moment. its just bugging the life out of me. plus, swapping the PSU is just a PITA so i figured i would see if anyone has any clever answers before i go that route. i'm not using a UPS just a power bar. i have a few other things i may try first before i go tearing my system apart. i REALLLLLY don't want to have to RMA the power supply if i don't have to.

AFAIK Kuyt plays in Netherlands, not in New York.

But you couldn't say whether you have to RMA or not, without swapping (sometimes even after swapping).

I couldn't tell since i've stopped watching football for quite some time now!! (although, the time i was watching, Dirk was one of my favourites )

@Dirk: unfortunately, i don't think that you will avoid trying your old PSU, since trial & error has been the most succesful methodology for spotting a problem.
