    Default psu choices

been a while since i have been buying higher end psu been using my older corsair hx/tx850's up till now they have been flawless. one of the tx's just blew a cap and the other two were bought at the same time frame (early 2009) so maybe time to replace them. i may still repair the bad cap since everything else tests out okay inside but not sure if i trust them being 6 or so years old now.

so im curious to know what you guys would recc in these categories as far as THE current best (no regard for cost what would you buy?) and then more so cost wise (still leaning towards 100$ and up though here not looking for junk)? i run multiple systems and these are the power ranges i am buying these for.

    gold-plat 750-850?

    gold-plat 1000-1200 or so?

    appreciate any input, thanks!!

    I personally think that:

Best cost/value for 750w-850 is the Evga G2 and Corsair RMI/X.

Best one for 750w-850w is Antec Hcp, Corsair AXi and the beautiful SeaSonic snow silent.

For 1000w, I'd say the same also, just the higher wattage units.

    For 1.5k+, I'd say ax1500i.

Again, this is just my opinion here.

+1 on that, but the normal SS platinums have a better quality fan if you can deal with a little extra noise.

IIRC they use Hong Hua FDB, what's wrong with that?

The question is, is it actual FDB or BB/rifle one just with a conflating part number. For XFX XTR and Antec Edge it turned out to not be so obvious.

can i ask what are you thoughts about the evga supernova p2 850?

and is the the antec hcp 850 really that good? it seems to have a ton of power with 4 rails at 40amps each but all the reviews i find are for what seems to be an older version or am i wrong? a friend has one brand new i can buy for a REALLY good price, its been sitting on his shelf for about 3 or 4 months unused.

and are there any respected reviews of the snow silent or one of the same platform? that thing is awesome looking and would look killer in my white case!!

thanks for the direction of top shelf ones to check out. are there any others that should be in the running?

It's a glorified sleeve-ish bearing. Probably won't last as long as a good ball bearing fan, no matter who made it.

No no no no no.... It's 2016 and you're still confused about how multiple +12V rails work?

Stop where you are and read this: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3990

Which fan are we talking about here?

    OP brought up 5 choice.

Fact of the matter is, a real Hong Hua FDB fan is a real Hong Hua FDB fan. But they also make rifle bearing fans as well (i.e. long life sleeve).

Seriously...we need an expose on who's really using FDB vs. rifle. I think the customer base is getting confused/ripped-off.

For the record: The RMx is a rifle bearing. But the RMi is a real FDB.

What is typical rating a sleeve bearing fan, 40k at 50c?
