How was the spark on those?

My tiny 10000uf 35v one made a big spark and we thought it was cool :P

Have you thought of making either a rail gun, or

something i just thought of. See what happens if you try smooth your headphone output or audio output with one of those :P Would you hear anything?

Well, this thread sort of took off without me noticing (stupid vBulletin didn't show it as unread)...

I have not yet tried it with anything flammable nearby, but that does sound like fun :P

I unfortunately do not have anything capable of charging them up to 400V (and that sounds like it might be a bit much). Highest I've gone is about 60V.

Yes, I verified they were discharged (with a meter) before handling them when I first got them. I have not stuck my tongue across the terminals, and don't plan to.

The idea of connecting them in parallel with the primary caps in a power supply sounds interesting, but I don't have any extra power supplies to play with at the moment.

    I might try ridgid13579's ideas...

Put them in reverse polarity and run very far?

If you smooth the sound too much you may than blow of your speakers as there will be high DC current flowing through very thin wires in their coils…

Cheapie, Do you mind selling one?

How much would you sell it for? I might have a use for one... And no, not to hurt anyone. For a actual purpose.

Selling things online is usually more of a pain than it's worth.

There are, however, a few people selling identical ones on eBay:
