Ah yes... Flack vs. flak. That homonym gets me all the time.

Though, technically, he could get "flack" for his comment. Like if someone from Firepower comes into the forums to address him.

I see the joint w/o enough solder to the right of J21, but how are you identifying the cold joints? I usually don't see them until they come apart, but my eyes are horrible these days.

It's unfortunate that in almost 4 years, nothing has changed.

On the other hand, if you look at FirePower's website & catalog, it seems that they're backed up with so many old OCZ / PCP&C units that it might be awhile before we see them put out anything impressive.

I thought OCZ was finished a couple years ago.

Not sure this is their best option as well, they should stick with a better OEM for this comeback.

They are, just like Circuit City and Comp USA. Tigerdirect bought up their names and used them for a while....you were basically shopping on Tigredirect with a different skin.

Toshiba bought OCZ's SSD division and Firepower bought their PSU division.

Thinking about the name of the new company... You have to be pretty egotistical to buy a company like this and change the name. Sure, they couldn't use "OCZ", but they could continue use "PC Power & Cooling". They allude to PCP&C's history many times on their website. But no... The guy with the money is "Mr. Firestone" so we have to change the name of the company to "Firepower".

Did he not think about the word "fire" not being something you want to associate with power supplies?

I remember asking the same thing the first time EVGA stuck the word "supernova" on one of theirs.

Sirtec Astro, seen a few times, nothing new to the market really.

If you want the same with quality caps, get the Silverstone ST75F-GS. They should just prolong the warranty. On the other hand it is 10 bucks cheaper.
