    Arrow EVGA GQ 850W Review

Few power supply companies have been as active as EVGA has been lately. I've almost lost count of how many EVGA units I have reviewed this year alone. Well, it's time for one more. Meet the brand new GQ series 850W.

Hey, great. Always good to see new PSUs with sub-1% VR and such low ripple (and achieved without using almost any in-cable capacitors). Despite the lack of the LLC resonant converter, it doesn't have efficiency troubles either.
I hope potential customers and advisors won't ditch this series just because they think FSP is a "worse OEM" (as if that dictates the performance and quality of a particular unit) than SS/SF, without looking at the tests.

Looks like they changed their mind about using the same design for 1000GQ and 1000G1 long time ago.

Now I wonder about the lower-wattage GQ units based on a different platform, as well as the upcoming BD series by HEC.

I may have missed it, but where was the reference to the men's fashion magazine?

I was expecting a picture of Mila Kunis on the box.

My math says 0.83%, but you do seem to come from a different universe, Wolfie so I guess it's OK

And it won't affect scoring either.

Too bad about the rise time slip-up, and a bit high MSRP, it's a very nice unit. Kudos to FSP and EVGA.

Oh and I'd love a sound profile done of that Protechnic fan, especially with that non-equidistant concentric wire grille... Seems like more than just an aesthetic-oriented design decision, but we won't know if it's not tested for...
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

Fixed. Had a miserable weekend, so I was very tired during the write-up.

Is it the Aurum PT/Xilenser platform?

Nope, it's fresh - not based on Aurum PT, Aurum Pro, or FSP's other designs.
