    Post New Gaming PC

    Hey Guys,
I want to my a new Gaming PC
    Intel Core I 5 6600K OR I7 6700K
    Corsair Hydro H55
    MSI Z170a Krait Gaming
16 GB HyperX Fury DDR4 2666 DIM Dual Kit
MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G OR MSI GeForce GTX 980 Gaming 4G
    NZXT S340 Black/Blue Edition
    Samsung 250 GB 850 EVO M.2
    Seagate Desktop HDD 1 TB
    Samsung External Blue Ray Burner
630 Watt Be Quiet Pure Power L8 CM Modular

The cheaper edition would cost about 1300€ and the other 1580€
What would you take or change?

    Some sparse thoughts:

    • For a gaming rig, there's no need for a Core i7, I would spare the money difference for other parts in case.
    • I'd rather the 980 over the 970 for several reason (memory, performance, noise).
    • The Corsair AIO is not such a good one, personally I'd go for an air cooler or a custom liquid loop.
    • The case (though I like it) is a rather hot one due to starved airflow (too few case openings): it would probably operate cooler if you were running a dual radiator setup (the 340 look like much more versed into liquid cooling); with such hot hardware, eventually I'd rather a more spacious and open enclosure.
    • I like the PSU because it's rather quiet, but it is also rather outdated, not that high performing, and it's pointlessly overpowered (you will need about 300W, so any high quality 400W unit, like a BeQuiet E10 400W, should work well).

    Hope this helps.
    Best, Luca

And yes I know the PSU is maybe 2 much/strong but some friends told me that i better take this one.
I think this can all fit in the case

If you trust your friends, why did you ask here? I mean, JG is the most specialized forum on the whole web about PSUs.
By thew way, broadly speaking a larger PSU might some time help whether it's a better PSU BUT the L8 is not better than an E10.

In my opinion such expensive hardware deserve a better PSU: about the same price, perhaps you might check either this one or this other one.

    • You don't need the Arctic Cooling MX2 paste: the Noctua NH-D14 comes with its own syringe of Noctua NH-T1 paste, which incidentally is also far better than the older MX2.
    • Check also if the MSI mobo can control 3 pin voltage controlled fans through the CPU fan headers, because if I recall correctly the Noctua NH-D14 has not PWM fans.
    • Check eventually the PSU cables lenght against case dimensions: the L8 cables are comparatively shorter than those of similar PSUs.

At any rate, enjoy your build!
    Best, Luca
