Default Cooler Master V650 Clicking/Popping sound

I received my Cooler Master V650 in the mail a few days ago, but I have noticed that there is a single click/pop when I start up/shut down/sleep my computer.

Is this normal or should I start the RMA process? I did not have this issue with my Thermaltake Smart SE 650W PSU.

You're just hearing the relay turn over. It's normal.

    It's normal.
If you hear the clicking sound only when the PSU tuns ON/OFF, then it's perfectly normal. ( I used to have the same question with you some time ago )
P.S. Now, what you say about sleep mode, i don't know, is your CPU one of the new Intel Haswell CPUs?

I think all boards shut the power supply off in S3. S1 might be a different story, but I don't know if anybody even uses that option.

Yes; what is happening is the power circuit is bypassing the NTC Thermistor and going straight to the relay after the initial inrush current hits the unit. The NTC Thermistor is just there in the initial stages to protect the PSU from a surge as they're designed to shut off when heat on the resistor gets too high, which would be caused by too much current coming in at one time. The relay is in place to improve your efficiency overall, as the NTC Thermistor isn't a very efficient part, and after the initial power on and surge of current from the wall (the inrush current as measured in some reviews) the job of that part is over. The click that you're hearing is the relay either charging or discharging which is why you hear it when you power up or shut down the system.

You'll find this click on most modern units these days as it's one of the easier ways to boost efficiency and allow them to pass the into the 80+ Gold, Platinum, & Titanium efficiency brackets.
