    Default EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) testing

Lately it come to me to enroll also into this stuff. The only problem is that a good spectrum analyzer is needed and most likely I will also need it to have a tracking generator.

Any thoughts on this? Of course if I decide to invest on a good spectrum analyzer I will probably use it in other areas as well (WiFi routers performance, audio etc.)

Take also into account that subforum different from PSU one is rarely watched (personally I'd send some PMs).

That, and... I have no idea how you'd use a spectrum analyzer to test EMC.

it is pretty easy actually. There are some SAs with EMI mode that guide you through out the whole process (mine doesn't have an EMI mode though).

I didn't put it right. You need to have an EMI receiver to take proper measurements since it needs specific resolution bandwidth (200Hz for the range 9kHz to 150kHz and 9kHz for the range 150kHz to 30MHz) and you also need 3 detector types: Peak, Quasi Peak and Average. So a plain SA won't cut it. However I will still use the Signal Hound since it is a really good SA and it will help me a lot in wireless products evaluations.

just finished setting up my bench. Unfortunately due to lack of space 5-6 other pieces of equipment are in other places into my lab. Should have made a much larger bench
