    Default PSU aged out?

My wifes motherboard recently died. So since I am going to be replacing the mobo, it got me thinking about the PSU. It is a Seasonic S12 430, and has been in use since about 2005. I haven't had any problems with it (that I know of), but I'm thinking maybe its time to be retired? What do you guys think?

To put it simply, that power supply should be just fine for many years to come. Seasonic power supplies, then and now, are known for being very high quality with components that will generally not go bad for a long, long time (with the exception of some of the very cheapest models, which this is not).

If you need more convincing, see here. That computer has a Seasonic GS-220T in it from 1992 (meaning it's now about 22.5 years old). I'm assuming it still works (it did in 2012, anyway), as I haven't heard anything about it failing.

It's over 10 years old. Average life span is taken into consideration when they gave that thing it's warranty. At the very least, the fan will die soon. I'd replace it.

The S12 uses OST caps and a Sleeve bearing fan, so yeah better replace it.

What about current and ripple over time?
It's matter if the psu works for example in 30% or 70% load?
    the mobo can smooth them?
    Thanx

If the secondary caps are failing, the ripple can get extremely high.

Only if the ripple isn't getting too high, but it puts more stress on the motherboard.

If that's true, then that would be a good idea, but I thought it used better parts like the S12II does?

*However*, on the last page of the article, they mention a "new and improved" version of it, with a better fan and Japanese capacitors. The OP should probably check which version they have.
