Default Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W not working replacement recommendation Please

I bought the Enhance in April, 2007. After 8 years of service, it finally gave up.

It won't boot my box but USB has power. I switched to my backup, a Rosewill 650w RP650-2 and my box boot up with no problem. I am going to open up the Enhance and clean the dust and hopefully it will work again.

Anyway, any recommendation for a replacement?

AMD PII 565 no overclock, 6450 video card
7 disk drive include one SSD and 3 DVD burner include one BR writer

just a home server which will be on 7/24.

    I shop at newegg.ca, ncix.ca and canadacomputers.com

By the way I am looking at this 430W wonder if it is powerful enough for my box http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=052926

    Thanks.

That's not a bad deal for the price, and 430W is probably enough. Depending on your budget, though, there are better 430 and 450W PSUs out there.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817151074 - Seasonic S12II 430W - similar efficiency, but much better build quality than the CX430

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817151127 - OEM Seasonic S12G 450W, which is 80plus gold certified
    or
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817151124 Seasonic G-450. Same PSU as above, but modular and better looking.

The enhance has probably got bad capacitors. You could probably recap it if your are good with a soldering iron. The PSU's I suggested above all have 100% Jap caps, so they will never get bad caps (which can't be said of the CX340). They are all bit more expensive, though. So, if $40 is your Budget, then you won't get any better than the CX
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards

Thanks, not very good at soldering but can manage basic task, will open up the Enhance and have a look at it and see if it has bad caps. Thanks again.

What about the EVGA reviewed by Spectre at HardOCP?
And there should also be the Delta-made Antec EarthWatts Green for a similar price (slightly higher, probably).

On that shop, it looks like so: its usual competitors (PSUs like the CM G650M, or the Fractal Integra R2) cost noticeably more, and it's nearby the Corsair CX.

I cleaned the enhance and reconnected to pc, simply won't boot. I then tested the PSU with the "paper clip trick", fan turns on and all rail check out ok with 3.3v, 5v and 12v all ok with voltmeter. Don't know what is wrong with it, looks like not enough juice to turn on pc. Anyway, now I am wondering if the cost justify recapping an eight year old PSU? By the way all caps look fine.

It may have other problems, then. I only suggested the caps because it's common on an 8 year old PSU (unless it came with Japanese parts).

Thanks again. Better retire it instead since it was like 24/7 for eight years and I must thank jonnyguru again for recommending this PSU back in 2007, after all like you say, it may not just be the caps.

Seems that this one has Chemi-Cons in it.
