In gaming motherboards tend to make basically no difference. Make sure you have decent CPU and video card (and of course, a PSU that can handle it all)

If all were otherwise equal, it would be a hard choice for me because those are my two preferred brands. But generally, if all else is equal I go with Gigabyte because of their aftersales support.

    I disagree completely!

EDIT ADD: Disregard the following. Severe case of cranial flatulence.

And in this case, that ASUS board is clearly superior for gaming, and pretty much everything else too.

    1. The ASUS H81M-D supports USB3.0 and the Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV board only 2.0,
    2. The ASUS supports faster RAM - 1600MHz vs 1333MHz,
    3. The ASUS supports SATA 6Gb/s and the Gigabyte only 3Gb/s,
    4. And most significantly - especially in terms of gaming, heat and efficiency - the ASUS board supports the latest 4th Gen Intel CPUs while the Gigabyte supports the older 3rd Gen.

But these two boards are no where close to being equal. I disagree completely! And in this case, that ASUS board is clearly superior for gaming, and pretty much everything else too.

You are looking at the wrong Gigabyte board.

Rats! My apologies to kavinduravishan and rafal iB PL. Need more coffee.

In that event, I would go for the Gigabyte - just because I prefer Gigabyte boards over ASUS, but only by the thinnest of margins.

    Thanks for that catch, sdbardwick.

I beg your pardon, but your question has no apparent meaning.

Yeah, I was confused before but now your Xbox comment is even more confusing.

You need to define more clearly what you are looking to do. You buy motherboards to build or upgrade a PC. You cannot play Xbox games on a PC.
