I'm not sure I understand why the Seasonic isn't the best choice when it is fanless. Is it because it is more expensive or are the others better?

Because fanless is not that big a plus. It also has some disadvantages...
The price is one of them, the others is the expected head generated...

You don't really save the fan of the PSU as you may need it in some place else...
And because the fanless unit has no fan, it gets a lot hotter than a ventilated unit...

The be quiet! Straight Power 10 400W is even inaudible at full load, so passive isn't really a plus in this case.

I already explicitly gave you my advice: performance-wise the Seasonic Platinum is better, while price wise it is not.

Given that you asked: «What would be a good alternative in the same price range that is (more) silent?» - the other options are more silent than your current PSU at the expected power draw, as you asked, and their price range is rather close to the 750HX one, as you asked.
I'd call those option some more rational suggests.

Eventually, if you don't want to change your favourite shop, and you definitely don't mind about shelling out about 300 krs more for the Seasonic Platinum Fanless, go for it.

Yep. The old HX's had this problem on occasion. Both the Seasonic and CWT based ones. What I would do, assuming the PSU is still under warranty (7 year warranty, so I assume it should be) is get an RMA and ask that they replace it with an HX750i.

    Thumbs up

Oh the silence. The sweet, sweet silence!

I have a well ventilated case and no heat problems, so I picked up the Seasonic to be sure I wont ever have a PSU with a broken fan again!

I'm not using the fan on my massive Noctura heat-sink, since running IntelBurnTest (and Furmark to heat the case airflow) cannot push it up above 70 degrees. Playing new games, like Dragon Age, doesn't get me above 50, so I was pretty sure I was good with a fanless PSU. Now I have a nice cold case and I can only hear my PC if I put my head next to the case. Thanks for the input everyone, even though I didn't follow it exactly. I owe you guys a beer

I would think so if they have a 7 year warranty but I haven't gotten that far. I decided I wanted another power supply no matter what, so if I do get the Corsair exchanged I'll use it in something else. Now I just have to figure out how this RMA stuff works..
