FYI: The V3 actually has a Panasonic primary. There has been little to no secondary failures, but early units with Chinese primaries were prone to failure and using the Jap primary addressed that.

You sad that before, but the CX series has only 3 years warranty, so Corsair doesn't really sees secondary caps failure.

Failing primary cap normally means something different. Did Corsair use a 420V cap?

The unit reviewed by Philip had a 400V Panny: was it a V3 already in 2013?

    V3 was out in Q2 2013 I believe.

But two years later Corsair website still states "CMPSU-430CXV2" as SKU on the relevant product page? Eventually is the "V3" just an internal, "unofficial", informal ID?

It was more a question for Jon, was the failing cap a 400V or 420V one? I think it was a 400V, which could be the reason of the problem.

AFAIK V3 isn't a SKU that Corsair uses, it's just the Bronze.

V3 is not a part number Corsair uses. The part number for the newest CX is CP-9020046 and that's what I see on the website. CMPSU-430CXV2 is old. Where on the Corsair website do you see that?

It was always a 400V, 180uF cap. But it used to be Jun Fu:

Would it cost more to use for example Samxon GD series in the secondary, 420V primary cap by SamXon and a Japanese 5Vsb cap?

Makes the CX(M) series much more interesting. At this moment the Corsair CX(M) series aren't a really good option here, too expensive for the quality you get.

Worth looking into. Though it would have to wait for the next product refresh (V4).
