Hmm. Compatible plugs? Use some pin tools to swap some wires?

The other way -- probably safer -- is to buy some Molex-to-PCIE adapters. That way the probably-underused Molex cables from your PSU would be repurposed into something useful.

That would have been my next suggestion. I've done that to a Thermaltake TR2 once. I had a few spare Antec cables, and I re-pinned them for the TT. It worked fine.
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards

Another option could be having that cable rebuilt by some specialized mod shop.

Crap, I just noticed that the extra cables for PCIe on this Antec are only 6-pin! So even if I found one, its no use to me. I need 4 8-pin plugs total for the dual 970's I have The two built in to the PSU are 6+2, and the extras are only 6-pin

I wonder what the pinouts are for the red plugs on the PSU so I could make a cable? They are 8-pin (with only a few wires in each) at the PSU, and 6 at the end, weird. May as well use the lone rail to power the video cards as intended? Even the 6-pin doesn't use all the wires so have no idea how its set up Any ideas how to figure it out? I can build the cable, but don't know enough about PSU's to figure out what is what there myself...

Now is the time for all good men to look at PCIE adapters (while jumping over the lazy poodle).

Yes, but then a whole 12V rail will go unused...

Providing you will have all the two modular PCIE cables, then you'd just need a pair of adapters like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812200420

Or you may ask to have the cables re built by a suitable mod shop with already the 6+2 connectors in place.

I wasn't sure if they would be safe long term for a card wanting two 8-pin power.
