There is a cable tie around the cables by the VP350P.

In fact took me about a minute to recreate this effect. Can easily add up over time as you fiddle around the case. Especially true if cables are short and you have to reach from top mounted PSU to lower bays.
That's because it doesn't have the metal around the edges folded back, and thus has sharp edges. Of course that will cut the wires. Most PSUs have the edges folded back, so there are no sharp edges to cut the wires on.
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards

Looks easy enough to tape the hole edges, though the plastic tie looks like it would keep wires away. You could probably change the zip tie with some kind of soft plastic between zip tie "holder" and wires. Tape would work well enough. And a 350 watt Power supply usually goes into a build and forget system.

I'd fear above solution would eventually be knocked loose (maybe because in any units I've seen it was knocked loose, or maybe it never held them tight enough in the first place).

I mean seriously, how much more expensive would be to just put a grommet around edges and call it a day? Like even many generic units do...
