    Default Is 550w really enough?

Okay so I was on Linus Tech Tips forums and some poeple told me I can run my config with a good 550w PSU. The PSU is SeaSonic G series and I am really not sure if it can run my build, with overclocks and all. So here is my planned build.

    CPU 4770K
    COOLER H100i
    ASUS Impact MOBO
    2x4 1.5v RAM
    1 SSD
    1 HDD
    ASUS GTX 770
    4 Fans

Card is 162 AV. You can push it up to 200 watts.
    Everything else = 200 watts.

So that leaves you with 150 watts for OC.

Can you burn more than that with insane OC.? sure.

For anything reasonable you are good to go.

More than enough. Great PSU choice can't go wrong with Seasonic esp. with G series.

Okay, and even with 2-3 2TB hard drives it would be oaky?

Agreed. 550W is plenty for any single GPU configuration you can possibly come up with (unless you plan to overclock like crazy).
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards

For your configuration a good 450W (+/- 50W) would be plenty...

HDDs are no problem, they use something like 5W or less. Except when the motor starts. Than they use about 25-50W. but jusst for a couple of seconds.

The only reason that people put higher requirements on PSUs for their equipment is the proliferation of low cost bargain priced PSUs that can do the rating on the side for about 4/10ths of a picosecond before exploding.
If those so called "peak rated" units were outlawed, or required to label them with their continuous output capability, then things wouldn't be so confusing.
Intel i7-2600k with an XSPC Raystorm water block, 4x4GB Corsair Dominator, SLi Evga-GTX560Ti-448 FTWs, Asrock Extreme4 Gen3, Crucial M4 256GB SSD, Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HDD, powered by a Silverstone Strider+ 850 PSU in a Silverstone TJ-07BW case.
I'm not buying EK GPU blocks ever again. (One GPU killed)
