Default yet another psu recommendation thread

Hi! I'm an old fart who is finally building a new pc. I have a few questions I'd like help with:

    1) Is Seasonic still the brand to go with? I've never had problems with my previous models. Maybe one of the x-series?

    2) My new gaming rig is gonna be i7 4xxx (no overclocking), 16gb ddr3, GTX 770/AMD R9 + 3-4 hdds. I'd like to futureproof the rig as well as possible with this psu, meaning a more powerful gpu in the future among other things. What kind of wattage/amps on 12V rail should I be aiming for? I don't think I'm going to overclock anything or go the way of sli/crossfire/dual gpu.

    Thanks in advance!

Where do you live in and how much are you willing to spend?

~500W would be much more than enough for this rig, given you won't be overclocking nor adding another GPU. On a side note I can't see a point in getting i7-4XXX without OC (unless you plan to use IGP), since you can buy Xeon E3-1230V3 for far less (and it's pretty much the same chip, sans the IGP).

I'd take a look at Cooler Master V700 (made by Seasonic) which is about 120€.

Yeah, I've missed that one. It's definitely an overkill in terms of wattage, but the price is decent.

Useless with only one graphics card, you're looking at a consumption below 400W.

Super Flower Golden Green 450W and SeaSonic G-series 450W have a good price/performance.

I don't know how Super Flower sounds, but G-Series is pretty damn loud PSU.

If silence is one of your main concerns, then Corsair RM, CM VS and BQ P10 might be your best bets. Not too sure about SFs.

His PC mostly draws less then 300W while gaming, so the Seasonic will be quiet then.

Super Flower Golden Green 450W has a 1200RPM fan, so its probably even more silent.
