    Default Lian-Li HPC-600 power supply

    On SPCR.
    Sirtec inside, and:
The HPC-600 is an interesting product but not up to SPCR standards for acoustics or efficiency, despite its many features, good power and voltage stability.

Sirtec must have had alot of units to move. They are far from being junk but Lian Li could have done much better using another provider.
They have a 500W Lian Li / Sirtec on offer. I guess the dimpled fan blades don't work majic at moving air quietly.

SPCR is not the #1 PSU review site on this board.

Yep, I know, but for me they are No.1 PSU review site for acoustics.

You know, I could care less for an SPCR Review of PSU's. Their emphasis is not what I'm interested in. Good reviews nonetheless.

i do use the spcr reviews as a general guideline for the things im interested in. when they said its getting loud, its good enough for me.

at least they do a proper test of a psu, so what if their conclusions are focussed on something else? you still get the data on voltage stability.
    Echoing all over the web.

I for one (i know there are others) am up to my ears with SPCR being placed on some kind of pedestal for being the final word on any power unit. Every forum has the few that push SPCR like a radical born again christian does his brand of religion. Over at AnandTech I know atleast 8 members that are loyal followers of Mike Chin and a real PITA they are about pushing the agenda. My ambient sound levels day time are well into 35dBA with everything here turned off (i live near a grade school). SPCR tends to believe everyone lives in a sound proof room . Bah! To those sissies. Dogs bark, cats meow, babies cry, car horns honk, children laugh, I fart & burp and the world goes on w/o anyone using a non-approved SPCR fan or PSU having hearing loss or killing themselves.

I would like to see more CFM going through lesser PSUs like Antec SP,TP or TPIIs inorder to extend their service life. The folks at SPCR want to down rate fans in PSUs for quiet . This is fine if one is putting a 150W load on a 500W unit but they talk about it as if should be the norm.

Note: My rig is fairly quiet but when ambient temps hit 30oC, the rheobus gets turned up.

I bet they would give the Antec Phatom with a top grade. A fanless unit with Fujhhyus on the secondary.

Down-rating fans is plain stupid. It would be a better solution to push for more efficient units and THEN use the lower CFM fans.

Actually, they gave it a poor rating because it became far too noisy when the fan did kick in.

SPCR down graded the cooling fans in their PSU load tester for quiet.

They will not accept samples for testing unless the company wanting an SPCR review buys ad space.

Why brag about a silence oriented web site on a performance oriented board? Are people coming here looking to under-volt their CPU?

Blufront is a fantastic silent system builder, look at his work over there. Will he EVER post his construction ideas here? I think not!

Who wants a Ninja being cooled by just the PSU's 120 exhaust fan? That's it for the whole system, just the PSU's fan! Enerything is passive, not even a fan on the VGA card or HDDs. Oh! That's right. A 2.5" drive is to be used.

jmke of madshrimps posted an Etasis review he did over at SPCR so all the little silence choir boys could laugh at how loud it's 80mm fan was/is. We are talking a server grade, high quality PSU that the quiet kids need to giggle at. Real silly if you ask me.

We need to keep SPCR in perspective and not mix apples and oranges.

That is something I cannot bring myself to understand...too loud?

If everything goes passive, they cannot use modern GFX cards and CPU's.
