Unhappy Need your help for a 550-650w PSU replacement! Which of these?

    Hello everybody!

..my corsair VX550 has failed after less than 3 years of use. Now I have to replace it and I've narrowed the list of possible replacements, but I need your advice.

After looking a lot of reviews, I was thinking about this:

    - Silverstone SST-ST60F-PS Strider 600W Silent ATX 80+ Silver (131,98 $)

    but others might be these:

    - Antec HCG-620M 620W 80+ Bronze (118,03 $)

    - Enermax Triathlor 650W 80Plus Bronze (120,55 $)

    - Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650M 650W 80plus Bronze (129,6 $)

    - Seasonic M12II-620 Bronze (131,07 $)

    - Seasonic G-550 80Plus Gold (134,24 $)

Unfortunately, because I live in Italy, there is no way to buy the Rosewill CAPSTONE-650

My rig is in the signature...thanks!!

Seasonic G-550. Easily the best in the bunch IMO, and worth the extra $3. The HCG-620M would also be good, though. .It's basically a re-badged Seasonic M12II 620W.

TBH, though, there's nothing really wrong with your current PSU. Since it has Jap caps and a BB fan, it should easily have several more years of life left in it.
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards

    Doesn't it have a 5 year warranty?

    Thanks for the reply

Yes it does have 5 years warranty: I'm waiting for RMA, but I don't know how much does it take and how much costs the shipment from Italy to Netherlands. So I'm looking forward, just in case..

So Seasonic G-550 is much better than Silverstone SST-ST60F-PS?
    BTW...I've even found Seasonic m12ii 650 at 139,55 $

Do you really need that much power? I doubt your rig will go over 400 W on +12 V. I think you will be fine with 500-550W supply.

Agreed. 650W is overkill. That's why I suggested the G-550. It's the best quality and the most efficient as well.

    Thanks guys..in case I'll go with G-550

just a last question: if I decide to install a second Radeon 7950 for crossfire (don't really know if I will ever do it...), G-550 can handle it? Even because I see that it comes with only 2 PCIe connectors..

Then nope, you need G-650 at least.

I have just called the Corsair support for RMA of my defective vx550w, but they told me it is no longer in production, so if I want they can replace it with the CX600.. what do you think about it?

I think it's a bit unfair replacing an independend regulated unit (or DC-DC, not sure what VX was) with a group regulated unit (CX). To be honest though, there seems to be no perfect replacement for the VX550 in current Corsair lineup.
