That 50W suplement is a good idea IMO. I don't know how many people would actually take advantage of it (I don't use my DVD drive without the computer on) but there are other possibilities for it as well.

I have to ask: why have they wrapped up the coils like that?

The aerial shot looks fab to me Jon. Really shows how laid out and neat the PCB and inner layout is - missing all the gooey stuff.

The higher amperage at 3.3v and 5v is excellent for me as I run 2x1TB, 1.5TB, an SCSI Ultra320 15K and 5 RAID HDDs setup with an ASUS mobo.

The additional small supply will do me just fine! I did reckon the 12V power was quite low though on the GM420 in comparison to its 3.3v/5v rails especially as now its the 12v that matters the most.

Looks very overrated to me, with just about zero AC line filtering... independantly regulated though.

Being independantly regulated, would that help in having good cross load potential?
Worth a good looking over. http://www.badcaps.net/

It should ideally show no crossloading issues since all three main rails are seperate from each other. If the primary section is weak though it will probably still have issues.
