My favorite post was the guy that doesn't think PSUs are hardware. (I'm dearly anticipating software-based PSUs...but only if they run on Linux.)

First of all, the OCP isn't there to protect the hardware. It is there to protect the power supply and most importantly the wires in the event of an overload or short circuit, which could otherwise lead to a fire.
