Looking forward to new reviews. This site has always been my favourite go-to spot for PSU reviews :)
To be fair, I cannot remember the last time I even glanced at the manual for any components I bought over the past years, except maybe a glance at some pages of the mainboard manual for the...
Sounds like I have some reading up to do on that aspect of SMPS design :)
I'd say that describes those chain smoker environments to a T :) I'll definitely keep that case in mind. Sounds like it may come in handy at some point.
This PSU reminds me of why I'm glad that it isn't 15 years ago any more. Also why I have never bought a CM PSU or recommended one to people.
Does limiting the input to 230VAC really save that much...
Still happily on Windows 7 as I watch the dumpster fire that is Windows 10 from afar :)
The funny thing is that I didn't have PSUs dying, but just the APC UPS. Still not really sure how that happened :)
Support refused to handle my case, however, as apparently connecting a stepped...
That's what happens when one breathes in too deeply from the magical smoke refill bottle :)
Honestly, things have been going swimmingly ever since our friendly neighbourhood Wolf took over reviewing. I learned so much obscure trivia from his reviews that I'll probably never be the same...
As someone who has lived in Germany for about four years now, I can sadly not counter that statement with any arguments. Maybe that we're still building pretty decent cars here? Occasionally?

Looks like a sticker of some type? Was it stuck on the outside?
Was it a HDD you installed, or a prebuilt system?
I can totally recommend the CyberPower UPSes with the pure sine wave output feature. I have had one hooked up to my current workstation along with some loads (monitor speakers) that the APC UPS (Back...
I'm getting horrible flashbacks to working on customer systems that had been subjected to the 'chain smoker' treatment. This PSU might save one part of the system from cancer stick exposure (or just...
Probably useful for audio-recording PCs and such as well, I guess. Though one still needs to have some airflow in the system. Heatsinking this PSU to an enclosure seems somewhat tricky.
Didn't...
I wonder when one would pick this type of closed PSU over a regular SFX one with a fan? I'm struggling to come up with applications beyond 'fanless systems'.
It's likely just a coil/inductor inside the power strip (for the protection circuit) making the noise. Nothing to worry about. They always vibrate, though not always at an audible frequency :)
You...
I remember when Enermax PSUs got more than a simple 'meh' :)
This particular PSU isn't bad. It's just not great. And expensive. For that price I'll get a Seasonic PSU instead with much better...
Yeah, I'm totally with you there :) I already feel infuriated when I'm forced to type on a system with not an instant response between typing and the text appearing on the screen. Having the same...
I'm also really interested in Cintiq alternatives, if only because Wacom is so incredibly expensive. Most of the disadvantages I saw involved lower resolution of the display, laggy response, inferior...
Yeah, I do have a desoldering gun. That one still relies on applying sufficient heat to the solder, of course, which is what I am having trouble with at this point.
What's a solder pot?
I recently got my grubby paws on yet another one of those ATX v1.3 units being branded as a 'modern' ATX PSU (i.e. suitable for a 12V-focused load). Naturally its 12V switchers were burned through...
My first good UPS I bought years ago was an MGE one, which worked perfectly year after year and still works aside from bad batteries. I replaced it with an APC BackUPS CS 650 VA which died after a...
I love those retro PSUs... Great for old pre-P4 systems, not so great for modern systems :)
Welcome back :)
How about replacing the Fuhyyus with fresh caps? It's not so difficult to replace those primary and secondary caps. Just takes a regular soldering iron and basic soldering skills :)
Wow, I think I just found the case for my next build :o Having the dust filters so easily accessible alone is a major selling point. Antec insists you have to snap off the front panel to clean the...
