Perfect... off to crimping!
bump... any ideas? 30 views and nothing? :(
I wish to run a pfSense mITX router and a Windows Home Server mATX build off a single Earthwatts 430w. I know the PSU is capable.
I plan to make a 24-pin => 24-pin + 20-pin adapter.
The PSU...
I saw the guy talking for 5s... and didn't bother to go any further.....
It's what I have on-hand. :p
Using the calculator on the site....
18AWG
12VDC
6ft
16A
The Vdrop is 1.26v for copper and 2.46v for aluminum. Doesn't that seem like a lot?
OW, can you be a bit more specific? Just for my knowledge, what IS the maximum safe power on a 18AWG line?
Hi, I plan to do some custom PSU wiring. I want to run 4 HDDs, 2 optical drives, 2 120mm fans, and a 1 40mm fan off one line.
Accounting for peak/spin-up load, I think it will be around 90w on...
How's the OCZ StealthXStream 500w? It is the same FSP PSU as the GamerXStream, correct?

Modular is optional but one can hope. ;)
I would have gone with an EarthWatts which is decent and under.... $30. Of course, the fan layout does me no good.
I am looking to replace my current Ultra XVS 400w PSU in my server. I know the PSU is not good. However, I got it for $6 AR and only placing a <150w load on it. The main reason I wish to replace...
I would have to say the 520HX will definitely be able to provide more power if needed. While both Seasonic units, the builds and internals are different.
Single +12v discussed here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3856
;)
The Earthwatts 500w should have been able to cope with your system fine. Would the system shutdown if you didn't OC your CPU and GPU?
Check out the Corsair PSUs at buy.com. ...
Thanks Tazz. What are they using for a liquid? Is it water?
I wonder about long term use and if any growth will appear.
Hey Tazz,
A few issues with the review. Please take this as constructive criticism:
Cold plate would usually imply phase or TEC. Base plate would have been a better term.
Push vs Pull...
OW, can you take a closer pic of the fan? Does it say sleeve bearing? Maybe you can provide me with the 3-digit number at the bottom of the label. I have a about 4-5 Yate Loon or "Yate Loon" fans...
This PSU uses a Yate Loon fan, correct? Doesn't Yate Loon make only sleeve bearing fans? Sleeve bearing fans function properly only when mounted vertically. In a PSU, one would expect the fan to...
Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic and CWT. Seasonic is known for their quiet PSUs.
From the specs of the newer Seagate drives, they only utilitze the +12v rail.

So... it brings me back to the OP, is it...
Thanks for the response.
Hmmm... what other components use the +5v rail? Optical drives won't use much idle. Hard drives use less than 5w (if that). PCI cards use maybe 3-10w sometimes.
Is the +7v mod safe? This is using the +12v and +5v line differential to power device(s). I plan on powering about ten 120mm fans so that's about 4A. Will it affect regulation or anything?
Interesting... some PSU manufactors are going with a single +12v rail and a DC-DC convertor for the +5v and +3.3v. Is this new? Seasonic claims that they are just now doing this. Oh, Jonny gets a...
Did someone say Intel? :D
So... is it worth it in the end?
