Are you sure you aren't confusing 8-pin EPS with 8-pin PCI-E? Count yellow wires to check it, EPS has 4, PCI-E has 3.

Besides, 8-pin EPS should actually be a 4 + 4-pin one, in that it can be split...

The PSU itself is actually pretty decent looking with DC-DC secondary and NCC caps.

Whether it's overrated or not, hard to tell though.
